GEMS Education opened an international school in Zanzibar

Zanzibar is gradually becoming not only a popular tourist destination, but also a new center of international education. By 2028, a large international school is planned to open here, which will be able to accommodate up to 1,100 students and will become one of the largest educational venues in East Africa.

The project is being implemented through a partnership between GEMS Education and Infinity Developments. Following the signing of a preliminary agreement, preparatory work has already been completed, so construction is expected to begin shortly.

The new school will be located near the historic center of Stone Town, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The future campus will be equipped with modern laboratories for natural sciences and information technology, and the educational program will combine academic preparation, the development of creative abilities, and the formation of students' personal qualities. The project's creators emphasize that the school will align with Zanzibar's educational development priorities. Special attention is planned for STEM disciplines, digital technologies, and the professional development of teachers.

GEMS believes that the region has great potential for the development of high-quality international education. In addition to educating students, the new projects are intended to contribute to the development of local educational infrastructure and the preparation of specialists.

The interest of international educational operators in East Africa continues to grow, driven by the region's economic development, a growing middle-class population, and high demand for international-level programs that open up opportunities for graduates to enter universities abroad. Today, GEMS Education already educates 200,000+ students worldwide and is actively expanding its operations beyond its traditional Gulf markets. The opening of a school in Zanzibar could become another important step in the development of international education on the African continent.
