The branch was established in 1974 in Dzerzhinsk, Novgorod region.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

The educational process is organized at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

The branch conducts research activities in the following priority areas:

• New polymers and other special-purpose materials,
• Development and application of new catalysts and catalytic processes of petrochemistry and organic synthesis,
• New methods and devices for analytical control of air pollution,
• Development of technologies for primary and deep processing of plant raw materials,
• Purification and recycling of industrial waste,
• Engineering R&D.

In 2019, the employees of the branch won the Jean Monnet module competition. Thanks to this, DPI NSTU was allowed to organize an international conference "Economic aspects of energy efficiency of the EU countries".

For meals for students and staff, the university has a canteen for 150 seats and a buffet.

The educational process takes place in a single educational building, equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes. The classrooms are equipped with modern technology: screens, projectors, computers and electronic whiteboards.

Students are given unlimited access to the library with a reading room with 40 seats.

For sports are provided:

• Ski base,
• Open area "Territory of Sports".

At DPI NSTU, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after which students are given a vacation (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).
