Description Colchester High School

  • Established: 1882
  • Location: Colchester, England
  • Number of students: 500
  • Language of instruction: English
  • Type of institution: private school.

Colchester High School was founded in 1882 as a female school, and in 1910, management issued an order for the first enrollment of male students. Since then, the school began to gain popularity in Colchester and over time became the best in the county. The main goal today is to organize a learning environment in which each student will be able to reveal their academic potential.

According to the leadership, the school is successful due to two factors: a small number of students and quality training. Teachers are sure that the best result can be achieved only through a personality-oriented approach to education. Pupils are considered not only as an object of learning, but also get acquainted with his dreams and fears, creative abilities and character traits.

Thanks to the hard joint work of teachers and students, high results were achieved on the GCSE exams:

  • 94% of all students received 4+ grades
  • 70% of students receive a grade of 5 or higher in English and math.

If the parent or teacher has problems with the student, they can contact the special department of support for learning. The student, teacher, and his parents will be offered collaboration and testing to identify any problems, including problems associated with reading, spelling, comprehension, memory, social skills, and fine motor skills.

One of the main goals of Colchester High School is to raise children happy, confident, independent, tolerant, responsible, law-abiding members of society. This means educating in them the values that bind British society together: democracy, the rule of law, individual freedom, mutual respect and tolerance for those who hold different beliefs.

The educational structure of Colchester's school consists of three levels:

  • Nursery
  • Lower school
  • Senior School.

The school has a theater program developed by LAMDA. Students who choose this course, in the learning process, develop skills that will be useful to them in the future: effective communication, text analysis and the basics of rhetoric. At the final exam, students must demonstrate acting skills, play the chosen scene from memory and prove a complete understanding of the material.
