The Institute was founded in 1960 in the city of Belgorod, is the leading educational and cultural complexes in the Central Black Earth Region.

For sports, BGIIK provides 3 gyms, a stadium and a fitness room.

At BGIIK, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after which students are given a vacation (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).
