Bath Spa University is one of the best creative British universities. Founded in 1852, it is actively developing. Today, Bath University offers educational programs for Bachelor's and Master's degrees in various fields. Priority directions are:

More than 6000 students study at the university, 3% are foreign students. The university carefully preserves British educational traditions. The Santander Universities partnership also supports entrepreneurship initiatives and partially funded internships with local small and medium-sized companies.

For an honors bachelor’s degree, the final classification is calculated from the best 100 credits at Level 5 and the best 100 credits at Level 6, weighted 30% and 70%, respectively. Master’s students who fail 60 or more credits are automatically excluded from their program.

A final result of 70% or higher corresponds to First Class for an honors bachelor’s degree and Distinction for a master’s degree. A result from 60% to 69.99% corresponds to Upper Second Class for an honors bachelor’s degree and Merit for a master’s degree.

Bath Spa University is organized into seven schools of study, each offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs:

• Bath Business School: develops business leaders and entrepreneurs through student-centered teaching, research, and industry knowledge and support,
• Bath School of Art, Film and Media: focuses on creative practice in fine art, photography, ceramics, illustration, curatorial practice, media communications, film, screen studies, television and digital production,
• Bath School of Design: embraces a multimedia approach, encompassing fashion and textiles, interiors, product and furniture design, graphic communication, cyber security, animation and gaming,
• School of Education: works with over 670 partners across early years, primary, secondary and college settings,
• School of Writing, Publishing and Humanities: covers history and heritage, politics, English literature, religions, philosophy and ethics, environmental humanities, creative writing, journalism and publishing,
• Bath School of Music and Performing Arts: offers courses across acting and production, dance, drama, music and the performing arts,
• School of Sciences: brings together research and teaching in geography, psychology, sociology, criminology, biology and environmental science.

• Bath Spa University ranked sixth overall in the Unifresher 2027 Rankings, with 19 subject areas in the top five,
• In 2026, the university received slightly more than £385,000 through Higher Education Innovation Funding to support knowledge exchange,

Bath Spa University’s partnership with Bath City Football Club includes sponsorship of the club’s women’s teams.

The university offers on-campus residences, apartments, and accommodation with a host family. First-year students are guaranteed campus housing, and housing is provided for international students throughout their studies. Residences and apartments are self-catered. Host-family accommodation includes breakfast or half board.

Accommodation supply is limited, with several room types and contract lengths. Applicants select three preferences, but a place in one of those preferred options is not guaranteed.

Options include Charlton Court, Waterside Court, and Twerton Mill. Bath Spa University manages Newton Park Halls and Bankside House. Offers are sent by email after the application deadline. Firm-choice applicants with specific accessibility requirements receive offers first, followed by the remaining applicants during the summer.

Bath Spa University has more than 40 interest clubs and societies and 20 sports clubs. Students' leisure activities include parties, themed events, discos, trips, and excursions.

The Students' Union building on Newton Park campus offers space to relax, socialize, eat, and drink, with a gym for workouts. Sports facilities include fields for rugby, netball, and soccer, three fully equipped dance studios, and additional rehearsal spaces. The surrounding countryside offers opportunities for outdoor activities.

The University Theatre is an adaptable 186-seat theater with sound, lighting, and staging facilities. The Michael Tippett Centre is designed for chamber and small ensemble music, with a 150-seat auditorium and two recording studios. Students also have access to an outdoor amphitheater and the Oldfield Park Theatre Workshops for carpentry and costume-making.

The schedule combines theoretical and practical classes with independent study. Students decide how many elective classes to take.

University infrastructure is spread across several campuses. Newton Park serves undergraduate students and is the main campus, set in acres of countryside designed by the 18th-century landscape architect Capability Brown, just four miles from Bath city center. At its heart is the modern Commons building, which houses open-access technology-enabled study space, social learning areas, bookable group working rooms, and a cafe. The campus also features the award-winning University Theatre, the purpose-built Michael Tippett Centre concert hall, a library with dedicated subject librarians, a Students' Union building with a shop and bar, science laboratories, and historic buildings including a 14th-century castle tower used for teaching. Newton Park's Main House, built from 1762 to 1765 and set in Capability Brown gardens, is Grade I listed.

Locksbrook Campus, opened in October 2019, is located in the heart of Bath's industrial quarter by the River Avon. The building is a former Herman Miller furniture factory, a listed structure designed by Sir Nicholas Grimshaw in 1976, refurbished by Grimshaw Architects. It received both a RIBA South West Award and a RIBA National Award for its design. Locksbrook is home to the Bath School of Art, Film and Media and the Bath School of Design, featuring specialist technical workshops (ceramics, metalwork, print, screen printing, textiles and more), flexible studio spaces, a gallery area and an art shop.

Sion Hill Campus is situated in the Lansdown district of Bath, within walking distance of shops, bars and the city center. It is home to the PGCE education space and is known for its friendly community atmosphere. The campus has refurbished facilities, sculpture and art studios, electronic media facilities, and communication studios.

Corsham Court in Wiltshire is a Grade I listed country house surrounded by formal gardens. It is a university research center with laboratory facilities, home to the University's Research Support Office and the majority of taught postgraduate courses.

Studying period: September - June.

• A Standard Visitor visa may be used for a program lasting less than six months, including a one-semester exchange,
• a Standard Visitor visa may also cover a short stay associated with a longer distance-learning program studied outside the UK and, in some cases, a thesis defense or an examination or module retake,
• an exchange program lasting more than six months requires a Student visa,
• transfer applicants must provide a complete transcript of their previous or current studies,
• transfer applicants may be required to attend an interview or audition, and Bath Spa University may recognize credits earned at another higher education institution.

International students may be eligible for loans or other funding from their home governments. Individual academic schools and funded projects also offer studentships from time to time.

The Economic and Social Research Council’s South West Doctoral Training Partnership funds social science doctoral places each academic year. The university’s partnership with Santander Universities supports mobility scholarships for overseas study or research and provides annual funding for students and graduates.
