Azov-Black Sea Engineering Institute, branch of the Don GAU in Zernograd

The Azov-Black Sea Engineering Institute was founded on March 26, 1930 as the Institute of Mechanical Engineers of Socialist Agriculture. Since 2014, the Institute is a structural subdivision of the Don State Agrarian University.

The university practices traditional forms of organization of the educational process:

• lecture;
• practical and seminar classes;
• extracurricular activities.

In the structure of the branch there are 4 faculties:

• Agrotechnological;
• Energy;
• Economics and management of territories;
• secondary vocational education.

5 scientific departments and the scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff of the departments are engaged in providing scientific research. Theoretical research of scientists of the Institute is focused on the creation of new highly productive varieties of grain and industrial crops, resource-saving technologies and means of mechanization, electrification and automation for their implementation. The results of research activities are reflected in monographs and other scientific publications introduced into the practice of regional institutions and organizations.

The total number of teaching staff is 113 people, of which:

• 13 doctors of sciences, professors;
• 96 candidates of sciences, associate professors.

The Institute has 5 comfortable dormitories.

The organization of catering is entrusted to the student nutrition plant, which includes:

• dining room for 100 seats;
• snack bar "Molodezhnaya" for 90 seats;
• 3 buffets for 66 seats.

The Institute holds rallies dedicated to Victory Day, the Day of Liberation of Zernograd from the Nazi invaders, at the memorial plaque in the main building of the Institute, a rally dedicated to the memory of Afghan soldiers and those who died in the First and Second Chechen campaigns has become a tradition. 

Employees and students take an active part in the celebration of:

• All-Russian patriotic actions "St. George's Ribbon".

The staff of the Institute patronizes the memorial complex in the Kamenny farm, erected on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The Institute has:

• recreation center on the Manych River with two dormitories and a dining room for 40 seats.

Practical activities are carried out on the fields of the agrotechnological center: there students get acquainted with new equipment, machine systems, technologies for the cultivation of grain crops, new varieties, master modern methods and forms of management. Students participate in the technological process from the moment of sowing seeds into the ground to obtaining a finished loaf of bread. 

5 scientific departments and the scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff of the departments are engaged in providing scientific research. 

The branch office library has the following structure:

The academic year begins on September 1 and is divided into two semesters, each ending with a test-examination session in accordance with the curriculum of the relevant educational program.
