The university was founded in 1918 in the city of Astrakhan.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

• Prediction of the risk of developing coronary artery disease in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,
• Prediction of the thermodynamic type of complex in pregnant women against the background of smoking,
• Determination of sperm fertility in patients with idiopathic infertility,
• Determination of the severity of acute infectious mononucleosis caused by the Epstein-Barr virus in children,
• Assessment of the quality of life in the postoperative period of patients with sacrococcygeal teratoma,
• Predicting the risk of developing fast-growing uterine fibroids,
• Prediction of lethal outcome in resuscitation patients of cardiac surgery.

AstSMU is one of the four universities in Russia where there are areas with education in French.

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides 5 comfortable dormitories, designed for 1040 places.

For meals for students and staff, the university has 3 buffets for 98 seats and a dining room for 214 people.

The educational process takes place on the basis of 10 educational buildings, which are equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory work. The classrooms are equipped with modern technology: screens, projectors and computers.

The university provides students with free access to a scientific library with a reading room for 200 seats.

For sports, the university has 4 sports halls and an outdoor stadium of a wide profile with elements of an obstacle course.

At AstSMU, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

• Proof of use of the right to admission within a special quota,
• Confirmation of individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account at admission,

• Photo 3x4 - for persons entering the study based on the results of entrance examinations conducted by the university independently.

Upon completion of AstSMU, students become qualified specialists in the field of medicine. During the study, practical education is carried out in medical institutions, where graduates can later continue to work.

For admission to bachelor's and specialist's educational programs, an applicant must:

• Points received for the exam are not lower than:

  • Social Studies — 45,
  • Biology — 38.

For admission to postgraduate programs, you must:

• Completed higher education,
• Successful completion of entrance examinations conducted by the university itself, with scores of at least 3.

For admission to residency programs, you must:

• Successful completion of entrance examinations, with scores not lower than the threshold set by the university itself:
