The history of the University of Mannheim dates back to the Städtische Handelshochschule Mannheim (Commercial College of Mannheim), founded in 1907 on the initiative of the Mannheim bourgeoisie. The Institute, funded by the Chamber of Commerce, until 1933 functioned as a college of future traders and quickly became the center of higher education in Germany. The Mannheim Municipal Commerce College was reopened in 1946 as the State College of Mannheim and was renamed the University of Mannheim in 1967.

Studierendenwerk Mannheim offers 2,500 rooms in 17 different student dormitories. Student housing is the perfect place to meet other students from Germany and around the world. Most of the rooms offered at the residence are furnished, connected to the university computer center, and the Internet is free throughout the campus. Heating, hot water and room cleaning included in the price. All hostels are a few minutes away from colleges by public transport.

The university does not guarantee all students a room in a student dormitory, so students submit an application for a place in the residence and at the same time look for an option to live in the private rental market. Events University of Mannheim

The learning environment of the University of Mannheim is unlike any other in Germany - from cobblestone paths to the plastering walls of a baroque palace, old churches and museums.
