Nursery

  • Student age — from three months.

Parsons Green Nursery creates a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can discover their potential. The approach is based on a combination of modern educational methods (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf) and traditional British values: respect, kindness, and good manners. Special attention is paid to emotional safety, the development of independence, confidence, and social skills.

Learning is built through play, exploration, and children's interests, where the process itself matters more than the final result. Teachers support an individual approach, monitor each child's development, and actively engage with parents.

The programme covers all key areas of development, including early literacy and numeracy skills. Children participate in various interactive formats: arts and crafts, sports, language learning, and meetings with representatives of different professions. Natural materials are used in learning, and time outdoors is encouraged — both during free time and as an alternative setting for lessons.

As a result, after completing the full nursery programme, boys and girls become more confident, curious, and socially adapted, gradually preparing for school, building foundational skills, and strengthening their interest in learning.

Activities Parsons Green Nursery, Parsons Green Nursery

At Parsons Green Nursery, regular outdoor walks are encouraged. In spring, the little ones even take part in hatching chicks on campus! Meetings are organized for them with people from the local community and guests from various fields:

  • firefighters,
  • a dentist and a dental hygienist,
  • representatives of the «Guide Dogs» charity,

The nursery has a team of visiting specialist teachers who share their expertise and professional skills:

  • a French language teacher conducting immersive lessons,
  • a music teacher who plays various instruments.

Children may optionally take part in short specialist sessions led by subject teachers, where their creative, sporting, or linguistic abilities will be developed.

Advantages

  • An experienced team helps unlock each child's unique abilities, fostering self-confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning from the very beginning. The team includes a variety of specialists: qualified teachers, staff with postgraduate education in the field of education, level 3 specialists, and early-career educators.
  • The management of Parsons Green Nursery regularly organizes professional development courses for caregivers and teachers so they can better track each child's individual progress.
  • The curriculum is based on the EYFS framework but combines a variety of approaches: inquiry-based learning, Waldorf pedagogy, the Montessori method, and the Reggio Emilia system.
  • The nursery maintains a warm and welcoming atmosphere in which parents are also involved. The nursery builds a close partnership with families: parents and caregivers together carry out baseline assessments of children's development, progress is recorded in an app, and parents regularly receive updates on their child's achievements and interests through a family app and at meetings with caregivers.
  • The principle of equal opportunities for all is upheld, regardless of religion, appearance, ability, gender, culture, age, or disability.
  • Special emphasis is placed on access to natural materials and resources, reducing plastic use, and creating an environment where children can learn independently and through their own experience.

Perspectives

By the time children transition to school after Parsons Green Nursery, many of them already confidently possess basic skills. Teaching uses the White Rose mathematics methodology and phonics programs, including Jolly Phonics, Collins Big Cats, Oxford Reading Tree, and Rocket Phonics.

At every stage of development, children are supported and gently encouraged in their interest in learning, so that by the time they graduate from nursery, the little ones arrive at school prepared, self-confident, and eager to continue learning. During the years spent in the nursery, children begin to better understand the world around them, forming their own interests and ways of learning. Here they also develop independent learning skills: the ability to ask questions, explore, reflect, and build the foundations of critical thinking. The educational foundation laid in future schoolchildren helps them adapt more easily to the school curriculum and new challenges.
