The university was founded in 1988 in the city of Nizhnevartovsk.

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

The educational process is based on the following faculties:

• Information Technology and Mathematics;
• Ecology and engineering;
• Humanitarian.

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides a block-type dormitory. In total, the building has 11 blocks and 123 rooms for 2-3 people, in total about 340 students live in the dormitories.  There is wi-fi on campus, and there is a laundry room on the ground floor.

For meals for students and staff, the university has a canteen for 180 seats.

To involve students in social activities, the university supports the following student associations:

The educational process takes place in one building, which is equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, laboratory and practical work. The classrooms are equipped with the necessary modern equipment: projectors, screens and computers, specialized equipment.

Students are given free access to the library system, the library has a reading room with 36 seats.

For sports, the university has a sports hall.

At NVSU, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

For admission to the university, applicants must provide:

• Identity card, citizenship;
• State-recognized certificate of education and qualifications;
• Proof of use of the right to admission within a special quota;
• Confirmation of individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account when admitting;
• Confirmation of registration in the system of individual (personalized) accounting (if any);
• Photo - for persons entering the training based on the results of entrance examinations conducted by the organization independently.

The necessary package of documents is provided to the university:

According to the results of the 2022 admission campaign, more than 440 people enrolled in full-time budget bachelor's programs.

To facilitate the finding of work and practice, the university has a Department for the Promotion of Employment of Graduates and Support for the Practices of Students.

For admission to bachelor's and specialist's educational programs, an applicant must:

• Completed education is not lower than secondary general;

For admission to postgraduate programs, you must:

• Successful completion of entrance examinations, with scores not lower than the threshold set by the university itself:
  • Special discipline;
  • Philosophy;
  • Foreign language.

As material support for students, the university allocates the following types of scholarships for students:
