Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov (KBSU) is the largest higher educational institution in Kabardino-Balkaria, one of the largest universities in the North Caucasus. The basis of KBSU was the Pedagogical Institute, reorganized in 1957. To date, the university bears the name of the first rector - Khatuta Mutovich Berbekov.
The university consists of 12 faculties and several narrow-profile institutes, where eduaction takes place in 30 specialties of bachelor's, specialist's, master's degree, residency, internship, doctoral studies. The school year begins in early September and lasts until mid-June. There are five days per week, classes are held from 9:00 to 16:20, depending on the schedule. Between pairs there are breaks of 10-45 minutes for rest, visiting the buffet.
