Institute of Water Transport named after G. Y. Sedov, branch of Ushakov State Medical University

The Institute was founded in 1876 in the city of Rostov-on-Don and is engaged in the education of specialists in seafaring. Students undergo practical education in real conditions, thereby gaining visual experience in the treatment of courts.

The components of the educational process of the Institute of Water Transport are lecture and seminar classes, industrial,scientific and pre-diploma practices.

The educational process is carried out on the basis of one faculty of marine transport engineers. This faculty includes 5 departments:

• mathematics, natural sciences and general professional disciplines;
• power plants;
• navigation and hydrography;
• management of transport processes;
• English language and humanities disciplines.

There is a college at the institute.

For the period from 2020 to 2021, the Institute published 95 scientific articles. The institute is based on 18 scientific circles and the student scientific community "Altair".

• Belousov Mikhail Prokofevich - Hero of the Soviet Union;

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides 3 dormitories for 734 places.

For meals for students and staff, the university has two canteens for 850 seats.

On the basis of the Institute, 2 guitar circles and a vocal ensemble "Wave" implement their activities. 

In order to conduct career guidance activities, work with veterans of the fleet and conduct educational and thematic video lectures, a history room of the G. Y. Sedov Institute of Water Transport was equipped. 

The learning process is carried out in 4 buildings equipped with classrooms for lectures and practical classes. All classrooms are equipped with modern logistical equipment: projectors, screens, laptops and audio systems. There are also rooms equipped with specialized equipment - models of electric drives, various parts of mechanisms, a compressor unit for the preparation and storage of compressed air, etc.

Students are given access to two libraries with 114 seats in the reading room.

In addition, the institute has two spacious sports halls.

At the institute, the learning process in the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after which students are given holidays (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

When studying at the institute, students incur the following additional costs:
