The educational institution was established in 2014 in the city of Simferopol by combining a number of institutes, academies, colleges and research centers. At the moment it is the largest university in the Republic of Crimea.

The housing complex, which is provided to nonresident students, includes about 20 dormitories: corridor, block and apartment type.

At KFU, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

For admission, you must provide:
- Identity document, citizenship;
- State-issued document on education and qualifications;
