Accreditation, safeguarding, and boarding standards
Accreditation is one useful sign of school quality, but families should also review how each boarding school protects students and supports their wellbeing. Before choosing a French-language school in Switzerland, check:
- Whether its accreditation is current and which organization awarded it, with CIS International Accreditation and BSA International Accreditation among the credentials that may appear in school information,
- How safeguarding and child protection policies work in daily boarding life, including staff responsibilities and reporting procedures,
- How the school monitors boarding standards, conducts inspections, and responds when concerns arise,
- What pastoral care, health, and wellbeing support students receive outside lessons,
- Whether boarding staff complete relevant professional development, such as the BSA Accredited Boarding Practitioner program or ECIS Child Protection Certification.
BSA publishes resources on standards, inspection, and safeguarding. Sacpa focuses on child protection, while CIS and ECIS offer accreditation or certification that can help families understand a school’s external quality checks.
