It was founded in 1597 by Richard Platt, and today the school is entering the fifth century of its existence with the largest number of students in its history. Semester Dates

Aldenham School supports a number of students whose financial circumstances do not allow them to join or continue their studies, if their academic, creative, athletic potential is assessed as significant. An application for a scholarship is usually made at the time of registration, but may also be filed later if it becomes necessary.

Academic scholarships are awarded for student learning 11+, 13+ on the basis of the results of the entrance exam and the subsequent interview. In 16+ awards are awarded based on GCSE results and interviews.
