The Young Leaders program is ideal for active, purposeful students who want not only to relax in the summer, but also challenge themselves, develop with like-minded people — and try their hand as students at legendary Oxford!
The course focuses on the active development of leadership skills and was developed based on provisions approved by the UN in 2015 (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs). It will help students integrate into global processes of the XXI century, better understand the nuances of relationships between people.
Students will attend many lectures, workshops and meetings with invited speakers — leaders of large corporations, brands, members of well-known academic communities (for example, Oxford Union). Among the likely speakers, for example, the mayor of Oxford Craig Simmons, consultant on military issues and leadership Kathie Knell.
Each week is declared thematic in accordance with the principles of Sustainable Development Goals:
- Solving climate problems
- Quality world education
- Health and well-being
- "No poverty"
- Eliminating social inequality
- Peace, justice, strong public institutions.
Students of the summer program will study and attend seminars in iconic places of Oxford:
- Bodleian Library of Oxford University
- Blavatnik School of Government
- Oxford Union and others.
Students are waiting for interactive lectures, modeled on the university pattern. These are group discussions, debates on various topics, exchange of views between groups, between students and teachers.
Time is also devoted to project work — each project is allocated one thematic week for preparation. Students break into groups, form an initiative team, choose a leader, present their achievements and findings in the final defense.
At least 4 hours per week are devoted to thematic research. Students analyze real existing studies — and supplement them with information collected independently, update them, look for points of contact between historical cases and modern ones happening here and now.
In their free time, children can go on excursions and walks — at least 2 full-fledged trips are organized every week:
- Natural History Museum in London
- Walking tour of Cambridge
- Windsor Castle
- Sports games and tournaments
- Movie nights and much more.
