Summer English for students

Junior Academic Course (10-12 years)

A special preparatory summer program for students of 10-12 years old who are just preparing to join the ranks of British students, to begin their studies in the best English boarding schools.

English classes are conducted daily, aimed at improving all key, basic language skills:

  • Grammar
  • Reading
  • Auditing (listening comprehension)
  • Vocabulary (active expansion of vocabulary)
  • Written speech
  • Oral speech (spoken English)
  • Phonetics (correct pronunciation, accent correction)
  • Improve communication skills.

Additionally, there are classes for 10 basic school subjects according to the British national educational plan.

The weekly workload is 25 academic hours, at least 3 hours every week for homework. Students study 5 days a week (from Monday to Saturday, except Thursday): every day they attend 2-4 lessons (1.5 hours each). Classes are formed small, for 10-12 people (maximum 16), and the ratio of teachers to students is 1: 3. Lessons are built in an interesting, interactive and dynamic format, with the active use of gaming techniques, practical experiments (especially in the classes of the natural-science cycle). During trips and excursions, each young student is assigned a senior student-tutor who looks after him and after lessons, helps to solve any problems.

On a mandatory basis, all students attend drama, theater and acting classes (twice a week for 1.5 hours). These electives help students not only to perfect their language skills, but also to develop self-confidence, speaking skills, and ability to make public speeches. At the end of each course a great musical and dramatic production is held, in which all students take part.

Not only academic and academic skills are actively developed, but also the personal qualities of small students: self-confidence and one's own strength, tolerance, courtesy, good manners and knowledge of etiquette, leadership skills and teamwork, a positive attitude to life and others.

At the end of the course, all students receive a branded personal certificate, an album for memory, a report card with grades and a full report on progress and achievements.

The course is considered academically quite complex, saturated and rigorous, so it is not suitable for beginners: upon admission, applicants must confirm the level of English from IELTS 4.0 (B1 and above).

The cost of schooling is (the price is indicated for 1 person):

  • 8 weeks = 9,200 £
  • 6 weeks = 6,900 £
  • 4 weeks = 4,600 £
  • 2 weeks = 2,550 £.

Pre-GCSE (13-15 years)

The preparatory program for students of 13-15 years is an ideal variant, as it is better to prepare for passage of the complicated program GCSE. GCSE is considered the final stage of incomplete secondary education in the UK: after grades 10-11, students can qualify for a place in the next, final stage - Sixth Form.

Every day students attend 4 lessons of 1.5 hours each, they study 5 days a week (from Monday to Saturday, except on Thursday). In total, the weekly load is 30 academic hours, at least 6 hours per week are allocated for homework.

All basic, key skills of the English language are actively improving (9 hours a week):

  • Grammar
  • Reading
  • Auditing (listening comprehension)
  • Vocabulary (active expansion of vocabulary)
  • Written speech
  • Oral speech (spoken English)
  • Phonetics (correct pronunciation, accent correction)
  • Improve communication skills
  • Academic English
  • Writing a research project (rules and methodology).

Specific sections of the English language are also studied, devoted to the development of profile terminology for basic subjects:

  • chemistry
  • geography
  • business fundamentals
  • mathematics
  • physics
  • biology
  • ICT (information and computer technologies and programming)
  • art
  • history.

Each subject is maintained by a separate specialized teacher - this module will allow students to more successfully absorb the program offered to them at the main school courses. Additionally, 10 basic, basic academic disciplines are studied according to the British standards of the school curriculum. In each class there are up to 16 students (usually 11-13), the ratio of teachers to students is 1: 3.

During each week, each student must read at least 1 book in the original, English language (adapted editions are allowed) and discuss it with the rest of the class. Also in the learning process, modern multimedia sources are actively used: TV, radio, media (newspapers and magazines), the Internet, songs and films.

All students of the preparatory course must attend drama, theater and acting lessons: they help to improve the language skills, raise self-confidence, develop the ability to speak in public. At the end of the course, all students participate in a large musical and dramatic production.

The course is considered academically quite complex, saturated and rigorous, so it is not suitable for beginners: upon admission, applicants must confirm the level of English from IELTS 4.0 (B1 and above).
