At what age is it better to start an education abroad?

It is impossible to answer this question unequivocally. All children are different, everyone can be ready to start learning at a foreign school in due time. Specialists recommend sending children to study abroad at the age of 10 - 13 years in middle classes , the most independent ones can be tried and sent toprimary school , but in this case it is advisable to visit or live with the child on a regular basis (in England, for example, a parent is allowed to live with the child until the full 12 years).

Ten-year-olds, as a rule, are already independent enough, they possess the necessary skills of self-service to live in a residence. 11 - 13-year-old schoolchildren, as a rule, are burdened by excessive care of parents and are easier than children to suffer separation.

The recommended age limit is determined by practical considerations. In foreign schools, in particular European (in Britain, Switzerland, other countries), at 11-13 years old children move from the junior school to the next educational level. Accordingly, they have enough time to pull up English, adapt to the new learning environment, qualitatively prepare for the examsGCSE , subsequently A-level , IB in Britain and Europe, AP in the US, Canada. Excellent results of final school examinations guarantee admission to a priority university.

Beginning of studies: the earlier, the better?

Many private boarding schools in Europe (British, Swiss) accept for the education of children and under 10 years of age. Admission to one of such educational institutions is an excellent option for a child whose family has moved abroad. To an independent life in the residence of the school the kid may not be ready, first of all morally. Primarily for younger students, family accommodation is offered. Is it worth sending a child under 10 years of age to study abroad, the parents decide.

From the age of 10-11, children are accepted into European, American schools with residence in the residence and boarding meals. They are under 24-hour supervision of the employees of the educational institution. At school, children not only study academic subjects, improve English, but also learn independence, responsibility, develop communication skills.

High school students can also begin study abroad after 8-9 grades . Adolescents come to the programs A-level, IB, AR and after school. But the time for adaptation to the educational system of the chosen country is much less.

The advantages of starting education in the EU, America in 10 - 13 years

  • Choice of specialization. Concentrating on the study of priority subjects.
  • Qualitative comprehensive preparation for admission to the university.
  • Study time in the country is counted in the period of residence necessary to obtain a residence permit.
