Description

The Pre-Master's program (Master's Accelerator Program)

  • Age of participants: from 20 years;
  • Duration of the programs: 1 or 2 semesters;
  • Classes start: January, August;
  • Level of English:
    • For semester programs: IELTS 6.5-7.0 / TOEFL 80;
    • For 2-semester programs: IELTS 6.0 (not lower than 5.5 by sections) / TOEFL 74.
  • Level of education: Bachelor's / Specialist's degree;
  • Language of instruction: English.

Pre-Master's is a special adaptation course for foreign applicants, through which you can bring your knowledge in line with the requirements of the Department of Magistracy of the University of South Carolina, and enter the chosen specialty. There are three types:

  • Direct Master's Accelerator;
  • Advanced Master's Accelerator;
  • Master's Accelerator Program.

In addition, there are three areas:

  • Management of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management;
  • Business;
  • Engineering.

The course combines master's disciplines according to the chosen direction, English classes, academic and other support, and adaptation activities. Features of the program:

  • Guaranteed admission to the Master's program subject to the implementation of the curriculum;
  • Graduates of the course "direct inclusion" pass to the second semester of the chosen specialty (without additional time);
  • The passed advanced and standard courses after training pass to the first semester of a magistracy (by that, duration of training increases);
  • Flexibility of training, the choice of courses and curriculum editing;
  • Easy and convenient application process and receipt.

All students receive effective help and support from teachers and university staff. Students attend special seminars on career development, where they get acquainted with the methods of job search, interviewing and promotion on the career ladder. During the training, students earn credits. Upon completion of the Pre-Master's, the students pass to the first or second semester of the main Master's program in the chosen direction.

Types, directions and programs curriculum:

Direct inclusion: It is intended for applicants with a high level of academic knowledge and English language, seeking academic, cultural and professional support for a successful and rapid process of adaptation to the university system of education and way of life. The program is prepared by an academic adviser, and meets the interests and needs of each individual student. Main advantages of the program:

  • Priority access to the selection of courses and disciplines of interest;
  • Lectures with both foreign students and students from the USA;
  • Special classes to develop "success." Teachers and mentors educate students to use their strengths and achieve their goals;
  • Expanded career development.

  • Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management:
    • Marketing strategy of the hotel business;
    • Advanced Service Management;
    • Hospitality systems and politics.
  • "Engineering" (for bio-engineering):
    • Seminar on Professional Development and Analytical Skills;
    • Special topics in biomedical engineering;
    • Fabric Engineering;
    • Transport phenomena in biomedical systems.

Advanced course: For students who have a high level of language and knowledge, but who need additional support. Students develop research skills, receive effective classes in the development of language and knowledge.

  • Engineering (for the specialization of chemical engineering):
    • Engineering analysis;
    • Modern chemical technology of thermodynamics;
    • Technical English for Academic and Professional Purposes;
    • Seminar on professional development and analytical skills.
  • Business:
    • Composition and presentation for the MBA;
    • Introduction to Accounting and Finance;
    • Sequence of professional development;
    • Introduction to statistics and quantitative methods.

Standard course: A special plan for those who need broad support in the development of language skills and academic knowledge. Includes intensive classes in grammar, auditing, writing and speaking, public speaking skills and presentation. Disciplines have a clear plan and give the necessary level of knowledge for the transition to a master's program.
