Part Time Community English Classes (Part Time Courses)

The English Center provides the opportunity to attend courses in a convenient part-time mode for all comers. The lessons are held in the afternoon or evening and are very convenient for those students who are engaged in work or other studies. Part-time options can significantly expand the education and career skills: foreign students at the University of Arizona can refresh certain skills in English. The program provides quality education through highly qualified instructors in small classes, which contributes to close educational and educational relations between students and their teachers. The programs are approved by the Accreditation Commission in English (CEA).
Summer part-time classes are offered for two hours, starting at 15:00 or 18:00, twice a week (on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays). Autumn and spring courses are offered for two hours, starting at 8:40 am, 15:00 and 18:00, twice a week (on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays). Start of classes takes place in January, March, August and October of each year.
There are various courses available:
- General English (General English). These classes combine all the skills on four aspects: speech, listening, reading and writing, focusing on grammar structures, vocabulary building and pronunciation. All levels are offered: Basic, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
- Pronunciation. This intermediate level course is designed for students who want to learn American pronunciation through intensive practice. The objectives of the course include improving the language skills, reducing the emphasis, analyzing the sounds of American English and developing phonetics skills.
- Conversation This middle-level course is intended for students who want to develop their knowledge and use spoken English more actively. It focuses on all the factors that play a role in everyday conversation, including pronunciation, slang, idioms and spoken language. He also focuses on popular topics that reflect the cultural interests of Americans.
- TOEFL Preparation (Preparation for the TOEFL exam). The advanced level course focuses on the development of writing, reading, listening and listening skills necessary for the successful passing of the TOEFL test. Students expand their knowledge and skills, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, rhetorical forms, and also on tests.
- Advanced Grammar (Advanced Grammar). The Advanced ESL (English as a second language) course is designed for students who want to master complex grammar structures used in writing and performing in both professional and academic environments by identifying grammatical errors and developing editing skills.
- Advanced Conversation (Advanced pronunciation). Advanced ESL (English as a second) course for students who want to improve their public speaking skills in business and academic settings. Students will learn how to develop and demonstrate an effective presentation using effective visual aids and public speaking skills.
