High school program in Trafalgar Castle School

Description
Education in grades 9-12 is aimed at obtaining a diploma of secondary education in Ontario (Ontario Secondary School Diploma). To successfully complete this course, you must earn 30 educational credits (18 mandatory and 12 elective disciplines are studied), perform the OSSLT literacy test (in grade 10), and recruit at least 40 hours of community service. The accumulation of credits starts in the 9th grade (here it is necessary to dial up to 8m): these are the original credit units that the student receives for the successful study of the course on the chosen subject:
- Research Technologies
- English and French
- Geography of Canada
- Mathematics
- Natural Sciences
- Physical Culture and Health
- Latin, drama and theater, music (instrumental or vocals), art - as optional subjects to choose from.
To the list of subjects in the 10th grade is added the history of Canada, civil law, additional natural sciences, vocational guidance and courses to choose from (Chinese language, leadership, HLS, technodisign, fine arts). The total number of credits is also 8 this year.
In the 11th grade, each student must earn up to 7 credits: about 17 disciplines are offered, and English is studied by all compulsorily (as in 12th grade, but here the minimum of credits is slightly lower - 6).
The educational program for each student is formed taking into account its inclinations, abilities and interests, the future profession, it is necessary to take into account the already passed disciplines and courses.
- AP courses
This is an in-depth study primarily of mathematics and English, almost university, the most complete and profound. The results of math graduates in the AP program are almost twice as high as the world average, which speaks eloquently about the quality of studying and high academic requirements of institutions.
- ESL (English as a Second Language)
A special course is designed for foreign students, studying in grade 9.
Academic programs of Trafalgar Castle School are often developed together with foreign colleagues and take into account modern, innovative directions. Thus, students can take a special course in writing skills developed at the University of Chicago, as well as participate in a student exchange program with Chile, Canadian institutions, Australia, South Africa or Spain. School of Management Rothman at the University of Toronto has created a unique program "I-Think": it intensively develops the skill of critical and integrated thinking, teaches to quickly find effective and non-standard solutions, to navigate in problem situations and cases. At the lessons of technical design, students have the opportunity to create controllable robots, etc.
In order to enter the school, you will need to:
- Prepare the necessary documents (application, recommendation letter, extract with marks for the last 2 years);
- Pay mandatory registration fee;
- Pass a telephone interview (you can pass it through Skype).
