Description

A-level

The two-year course is the "golden standard of British education." This program is aimed at the effective completion of the secondary school course and attentive and productive preparation for the university. The A-level certificate with excellent points is highly valued: it allows graduates to enter even the most elite, ranking universities without additional entrance examinations.

For 2 years, students study a very limited list of disciplines: usually it's 4-5 subjects in the first year (AS-level) and only 3-4 of the selected ones in the second year (A-level). All subjects are chosen personally by the student: the choice depends not only on personal preferences and interests, but also on the requirements of the chosen university and specialty. Such academic concentration gives the opportunity to concentrate on the most priority specialties and fields of knowledge, to devote maximum time to the most important subjects. Selected disciplines are studied at a solid, complicated level, similar to the university one.

Senior students are given a greater level of freedom than other students. They can completely plan their own educational and free time, come up with and organize school events and celebrations, sports and creative events.

Among them there are both compulsory and optional - just at the end of grade 11 students take 8-10 exams, the grades for which go to the GCSE certificate.
