PROGRAM International Year One and PROGRAM Extended International Year One.
1. Age of participants: from 17 years
2. Duration of the programs:
- Standard program: 3 semesters
- Extended program: 4 semesters
3. Start of classes:
- Standard program: January, September
- Expanded program: September
4. Level of English for participation in the programs:
- 3-semester program (standard): IELTS 5.5 (minimum 5.5 in the Letter section, a minimum of 5.0 for all other sections)
- 4-semester program (extended): IELTS 5.0 (minimum 5.0 in the Letter section, a minimum of 4.5 for all other sections)
5. Educational level: completed secondary school with excellent marks in subjects corresponding to the chosen direction.
The programs are designed for foreign students who plan to enter the University of Hull and who need to bring their academic knowledge and English language skills in line with the requirements of the university and the British educational system. In fact, these programs are an adapted first year of the university.
To participate in the program you must have excellent marks in the certificate of secondary education for those subjects that are profile for the chosen course of study. Depending on the level of language proficiency, students take part either in a standard program (which lasts 3 semesters) or in an extended program (lasts 4 semesters, of which one semester is entirely devoted to classes in English). Each semester includes 7-8 weeks of study, one week of reading and one week of exams. Students receive 28 hours of classes per week.
Program is conducted in two directions:
- Business
- Engineering.
Each direction includes a set of relevant academic disciplines, mastering the skills of university studies and a module of the English academic language. During the year of study, students receive a fundamental knowledge base and develop academic skills of study to the level set at the university. To continuously monitor the success of education, students perform a number of different screening tests, which include:
- Term papers
- Writing essays and extended essays
- Reports on the done laboratory work
- Structured tasks
- Oral examinations
- Invisible written exams
- Presentation of presentations.
After the completion of the education, students enter the second year of the University of Hall for basic educational programs in one of the selected specialties (from the list of available courses).
