Students from which countries come to study in Russia?

Many of the Russian students prefer (or dream) to study abroad. According to the statistics of the FGANU "Sociocenter", they choose:

  • North America and Western Europe = 63.5%
  • Central and Eastern Europe = 22.2%
  • Central Asia = 7.3%.

However, there are many of those students in the world who come to study, on the contrary, to Russia! Of course, these are mainly citizens of the nearest or neighboring countries to us. According to statistics, most students (75%) come to Russia from:

  • Georgia;
  • Kazakhstan;
  • Uzbekistan;
  • Baltic states.

The indicator of students from abroad reached its maximum value in 2014, then began to decline, but now it is again showing an upward trend. Since 2013, the percentage of students from other countries - African, European, Asian, and American continents-has been growing. Moreover, according to the same FGANU "Sociocenter", foreign students highly appreciate the quality of education and universities in Russia (more than 4,800 people participated in the survey).
