School description

The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) was formed in 1990 through the merger of three other institutions:

It was the largest institution of its kind in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. SAC has also provided consulting services throughout Scotland in addition to its portfolio of traditional teaching and research methods. In October 2012, Scottish Agricultural College was merged with Baroni College, Elmwood College and Oatridge College to form Scotland's Rural College.

SRUC integrates comprehensive skills building, education and business support for the Scottish agricultural industries.

HND Agriculture

This two-year course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career at the supervisor / junior manager level in agricultural industries or for self-employment in agriculture or other agricultural sectors.

Undergraduate (BA / BSc)

  • BSc (Hons) Agriculture - the course will explore every element of the food production chain, from plow to cooker, and at the same time develop skills that can be used in national and international agriculture, agribusiness or agri-food industry.
  • BSc (Hons) Garden and Greenspace Design - for the first two years of study, you will learn the basics of garden design with students of the HND Garden Design course. In the third year, students visit foreign countries as part of the International Design Project module, work on real projects with real clients in the public and private spheres. In their final year with honors, students work on projects of their choice in landscape design.

Master (online)

BSc (Hons) Garden and Greenspace Design - this 3-4 year degree program offers a broad perspective on garden design, from home gardens to public green spaces and the environment in general.

Postgraduate Diploma (online, part-time) - from 21 years

MAs in Agriculture work on self-directed research.
