Transition Year in Rockwell College

Description
Transition Year
The training course Transition Year ("Transition Year") appeared in college relatively recently, in 1999. It is especially useful for foreign students who want to continue their studies in the UK and other English-speaking countries: as smoothly as possible, it effectively introduces the student into a new educational, cultural and linguistic world, enabling them to adapt to the new academic environment.
A key characteristic of the Transition Year course is the wide range of disciplines available for training. Choosing a specialty and directions, students prepare for a conscious and balanced choice of specialty in the future (in the senior classes at the Leaving Certificate and at the entrance to the university), become more informed about their opportunities and the ways of academic, personal development. Students become more self-confident, learn to express their thoughts, point of view and desires, open new horizons of knowledge, get used to lead a healthy lifestyle, allocate their time correctly.
The list of subjects that can be studied by students aged 15-16 in the course of the Transition Year is very wide and varied:
- driving
- foreign languages (French, Italian, Spanish, German, Chinese) - with sufficient progress the student can attend several courses
- natural Sciences
- English
- filmmaking
- physical culture and sports
- bookkeeping, economics and business
- art
- public performance
- Gaelic (foreigners are usually exempt from studying it, can go as an elective)
- Religious Studies (Theology)
- self-defense
- first aid
- drama and theatrical art
- geography
- computer science

The cost of studying at Rockwell College (including accommodation and boarding at a full board in a common residence) is 18500 € per academic year.
