Description

PROGRAMS OF STUDYING ENGLISH LANGUAGE (Pre-sessional English).

  • Level of language proficiency for participation: specified individually.

Courses are designed for applicants who need to improve the level of the language before entering the preparation for undergraduate or graduate. the successful completion of a 2-week course guarantees an increase in the IELTS level by 0.5 divisions on one of the selected topics. The semester course increases the overall IELTS mark by 1.0, and the 2-semester course by 1.5. Participants are engaged exclusively in highly qualified teachers who are native speakers and have academic degrees.

All classes are built around the main sections of linguistics:

  • Speaking and pronunciation
  • Reading
  • English for Academic Purposes.

Students learn to correctly and clearly express their thoughts in written and oral form, apply English in debates and speeches. Much attention is paid to the sections of the IELTS test, successful skills for its delivery, problem areas and topics. Students also get acquainted with life at the university and adapt to the education system.

PROGRAM OF PREPARATION FOR BACHELORATE (University Foundation).

  • Age of participants: 17 years
  • Duration of the programs: 1, 2 or 3 semesters

  • Level of education for participation in the program: a diploma on school education with good grades.

The programs are designed for foreign students with a diploma and a certain level of English. Candidates from all over the world are accepted. If necessary, the level of the language can be increased by going through special courses. Upon admission, applicants choose one of the 19 proposed courses, each leading to specific bachelor's programs.

Most programs last 2 semesters, but there are programs for 1 semester, as well as solid programs lasting 3 semesters in the field of Science and Engineering and Health and Human Sciences. Education takes place in small groups (up to 15 people), each student receives maximum attention from teachers and mentors. In addition to academic support, students are provided with all the necessary support in everyday life, the process of adaptation to the structure of university life. After the successful completion of the chosen program, graduates enter the Bachelor's Department of the University of Plymouth.
