School description

Northern Arizona University (NAU) began its academic career in 1899 in Flagstaff. Today, it is considered one of the largest universities in Northern Arizona: the total number of students (bachelor and graduate students) reaches almost thirty thousand, and the academic teaching staff of NAU is almost a thousand specialists. The profile direction of the university, which was included in the national association, was the study of sustainable environmental development. With the participation of students, world-renowned scientists are working on research on the problems of climate change, social inequality, health care, and improvement of prosthetic technology; they find solutions to a wide range of issues.

Students have access to the university library and residential buildings on an urban-type campus, although living outside the university’s borders is more popular in Flagstaff, where there are 21 residences and three residential buildings for students.

Sport is the most popular form of recreation at NAU: the university has 15 sports teams of the first division, and the American football team is in the top 20 in America. Sports programs were awarded several times with the prestigious Grand Prize Sky Conference Cup award.
