Within the walls of the school, students can receive basic and secondary compulsory education. Starting from the eighth grade, the educational institution provides specialized training for gymnasium students in one of four areas:

• historical and philological;
• physical and mathematical;
• natural science;
• foreign languages.

Historical and philological program

Historical and philological program - an educational course of secondary school, the main purpose of which is defined as the formation of personality through the acquisition of spiritual culture. As part of the philological part of the course, students study:

• analyze the text, its structure, style, presentation form;
• to relate the events of the work with the historical, cultural features of the time of its writing;
• to build analytical links between the actions of the heroes of the texts and the consequences to which they led.

The historical component is designed to help high-school students navigate the world around them, to feel themselves, their kin and their country in time. In order to promote the development of the emotional sphere and help adolescents develop a personal attitude to the events of the past, the teaching staff combines various methods of learning in learning:

• independent partial-search work of students;
• development by senior pupils of annual coursework;
• classroom lectures and seminars;
• visiting museums and excursions.

Physics and Mathematics

The physical and mathematical program is a compulsory part of the education of a high school student of any age; however, depending on the profile that the student chose, the degree of intensity of the load and sections of mathematics can vary:

• in natural science classes, emphasis is placed on the use of the mathematical apparatus in the in-depth study of specialized subjects;
• in historical and philological studies there is an addition in the form of the aesthetic and general cultural component of mathematics;
• In the classes of a mathematical profile study special advanced mathematical courses that develop the scientific outlook.

In the process of studying the queen of all sciences, the focus is on teaching approaches to solving the following types of tasks:

• classic look;
• non-standard on the formulation and methods of solution;
• search character;
• with a fuzzy condition.

The fullness of the physical component of the course depends on the class and age of students:

• in the seventh grade, it is studied according to the standards of general education schools;
• in the eighth grade of the non-mathematical profile, the subject is of a general educational nature, the rest of the students begin to study it in depth;
• From the ninth to the eleventh grade, a systematic course in physics of basic or specialized content is taught (depending on the profile chosen by the student).

Natural science program

The natural science program is a secondary school course that introduces pupils to human physiology, mechanisms for the occurrence of diseases, as well as instilling behavioral skills that can help prevent illnesses and provide first aid.

As part of school biology, high school students learn:

• normal age physiology and psychology;
• ecology, botany;
• cell theory;
• theories about heredity (genotype, chromosomal theory, mutations, etc.);
• body functions, their regulation;
• approaches to evolution.

In addition to acquaintance with the theoretical base and applied aspects of biology, teachers make a weighty emphasis on the moral component of the course:

• the formation of an ethical relationship to nature;
• fostering tolerance and respect for differences between people according to the principle “other does not mean bad”;
• promoting responsible environmental management, which implies an understanding of the need to preserve the biosphere for future generations.

The fullness of the geographical and chemical components of the program depends on the profile chosen by the student for further admission to universities. The gymnasium provides for a general basic and specialized study of subjects, in any case supplementing biological discipline and helping high-school students to build links between natural and social phenomena.

Foreign Language Program

The program of studying English in a gymnasium operates from the fifth to the eleventh grade and provides for the formation of the skills of fluency in spoken and written foreign speech. The course is designed for three academic hours per week and develops competencies:

• in the field of speaking (the ability to maintain a conversation, ask the interlocutor, talk about yourself, describe events and phenomena, use synonymous means in oral speech);
• in the field of listening (listening skills and fully understanding the speech of another person, highlighting the main information from the text heard, using the request to repeat what was said);
• in the field of reading (the ability to read English texts of different genres with the correct pronunciation, analyze the meaning of the text, predict its content by title, read with a selective understanding of the information of interest);
• in the field of writing (skills to fill out questionnaires, forms, write congratulations, letters, essays, draw up a plan and abstracts of the text, concisely present the main conclusions and results of the project work).
