Early Years Program in King Henry VIII School

Description
Pre-Prep
- Age – from 3 to 7 years,
- The period is 4 years.
The Pre-Prep program was created in collaboration with bablake School. The early years of school life encompass learning in The Crèches and Key Stage 1 classrooms.
Learning through play, the environment, and meaningful, engaging experiences are key elements of a curriculum that creates the foundation for a love of learning. At an early age, the child is encouraged to think creatively and critically, plan for their own learning, choose resources, and adapt plans to achieve the desired outcome.
Children have constant access to the indoor learning space and beautiful campus. Classes often take place outdoors, weather permitting.
In Key Stage 1, students receive age-appropriate assignments and support as needed. English and maths mostly take place in the morning, while other subjects such as science, computer science, geography, and history take place in the afternoon. Drama is taught as part of the English language curriculum and after-school extracurricular activities. A specialized music teacher teaches weekly lessons in grades 1 and 2.
Forest School classes are favorites in Prep. Thanks to the vast territory, children can practice skills such as crafting, construction, controlled use of tools and cooking over a campfire.
