Summer course in archeology (master's level)

The excavations of the field school are dedicated to the newly discovered Roman residential and industrial settlement in the territory of the famous Etruscan-Roman city Rusellae. Excavations have revealed richly decorated living quarters, workshops and warehouses. The field school provides an opportunity to explore the regional and international trading networks that formed the core of the Roman economy. The school is designed for students, beginning scientists and those who are fond of archeology, classics, art history, anthropology and cultural heritage management. No excavation experience required; At the end of the course, three university credits are awarded or a certificate of participation is issued.

The university awards the degrees “Bachelor of Arts” (BA): programs consist of 40 courses distributed over semesters and years of study. The John Cabot University Master Dept. offers high-quality students in the Master of Arts (MA) in Art History program. To participate in the program are considered students with a bachelor's degree, having a certain number of credits in the subject "History of Art"; applicants who study (or speak) Italian, French or German are welcome. The program is accredited by the American Middle States Commission on Higher Education (Middle States Commission on Higher Education) and is the first Master of Art History program, accredited by US agencies and fully developed and implemented in Italy.

The course is aimed at mastering students with theoretical knowledge and methods of art history with an emphasis on direct research in museums, monuments and archaeological monuments of Rome. The standard duration of training takes 15 months, the schedule contains several steps:

For those students whose English level does not meet the requirements for direct entry to the John Cabot University, there are special English Language for University Studies (ENLUS) Program programs. Courses are available starting at level A2 and are divided into three stages:

  • PRE-ENLUS (A2) (208 academic hours)
  • ENLUS I (B1) (208 hours)
  • ENLUS II (B2) (252 hours).

Training continues for 15 weeks (for each level) and begins three times a year:

  • Autumn course: from September 2 to December 13
  • Spring course: from January 21 to May 9
  • Summer course: from May 27 to July 27.

The schedule is specially designed so that immediately upon completion of the English course, students can switch to the main programs of study. The program has three main objectives:

  • improve your English proficiency to the required level
  • prepare students for the intellectual needs of university studies using educational materials
  • provide full language immersion, the ability to use the language in school and everyday life.

Classes are held in small groups four times a week for 4 hours (from Monday to Thursday). In addition to active work on the sections of linguistics, students receive advice on a wide range of issues and undergo a process of adaptation to the English-speaking student community and the life of the university. Successful completion of the course usually leads to a direct entry to John Cabot University.

All students enrolled in university English courses may participate in the scholarship competition. Scholarships can cover up to 40% of the total value of each level.
