Description

The International Year One Program

  • Duration of the program: 3 (7 months) or 4 semesters (12 months) (it is possible to reduce the duration of studies to 1-2 semesters)
  • Classes start: June, September, March, January
  • Level of education: high school diploma with good marks (GPA not less than 2.5)
  • Knowledge of English: IELTS 5.5 (minimum 5.5 in the letter section), TOEFL 60 or other equivalent
  • Language of instruction: English
  • Participants: foreign citizens.

International Year One is a special admission program for international students, which contains the adapted disciplines of the first year of study. The big advantage is that students do not lose time for preparation, and immediately after the completion of these courses they pass to the next semester of the chosen bachelor's specialty. Depending on the level of the language and academic indicators, the studying can last from 1 to 4 semesters, if necessary, you can take special courses of the English academic language. There are 12 different directions available:

  • Engineering
  • Physical Exercises and Sports Science
  • Science and technology in the field of food products
  • Computer science
  • General research
  • General studies (liberal arts)
  • Natural Resources and Renewable Materials
  • Public Policy
  • The science
  • Business
  • Woman and Gender Studies
  • Forestry.

After each direction, specific bachelor's specialties are available. Students study a set of disciplines, which include the main and subject modules:

  • English academic language. A compulsory subject for all courses and courses lasting from 2 to 4 semesters. Students actively develop language skills, emphasizing the exact use of vocabulary and vocabulary expansion, correct and clear presentation of their thoughts and ideas in written and oral form. Classes include work on all sections of linguistics: grammar, conversation, writing, listening. During the program, students significantly increase the level of the language and are accustomed to using it in study and everyday life.
  • Skills of university studies and research. Obligatory subject for all directions. In the course of the work, the bias is made precisely on the techniques and methods that are characteristic of the chosen direction.
  • Discipline in the direction. This includes a whole range of subjects that are necessary for the disclosure of topics in the chosen direction.

The studying is specially adapted for foreign students and gives them the opportunity to quickly and painlessly master their specialization and go to the basic bachelor's studying programs. Students are taught by highly qualified teachers who try to find an individual approach to each student, and help them to open their potential. In addition to academic disciplines, participants in the International Year One receive assistance from teachers and mentors in the process of adapting to the system of study at the university, the way of life in the city, state and country. A student can always seek help to resolve any issue, both educational and personal and personal. Upon completion of the studying, students move to the next semester of the bachelor's degree and continue their studies as an ordinary bachelor student.
