School description

One of the best American boarding schools - Private Groton School was founded in 1884 by the episcopal priest Endicott Peabody and his wife. Initially, the school under the leadership of Mr. Peabody was intended only for boys, girls could enter the programs only in the fall of 1975. The school was able to open with the help of James and Prescott Lawrence, who donated land for the campus, and the Roosevelt family helped significantly, including Theodore Roosevelt himself (26th president of the United States of America).

Today, the school teaches approximately 370 people (boys and girls equally) and remains a small, chambered institution where everyone knows each other by name and in person, always ready to help and give valuable advice.

The school still adheres to traditional Christian values but here representatives of any confession or religion can study: Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist services are held regularly.

Brief information: In the 10th to 12th grade, each student must determine for themselves a minimum of 5 top-priority subject courses. The successful completion of a school is the earning of a certain number of educational credits, or credit units: they must be at least 45 in the aggregate of all subjects.

Usually students choose up to 6 courses per semester; Most of the subjects last 1 academic year (2 semesters) and gives the opportunity to earn up to 3 credits. For a short course (semester), you can earn 1 credit on one subject.

The list of available specialties for selection is very wide:

  • English;
  • English literature;

  • Modern foreign language as a second language;
  • Natural sciences (chemistry, biology, physics);
