Nostrification (recognition in Russia of a diploma issued by by a foreign institution ), as in most countries of the world, is lengthy, rather complicated and not free. A graduate of a university or a higher school is required to provide a large package of documents to the GlavExpertcentre of the Federation, including not only a diploma and an identity card, but also documents on pre-university education. The procedure of nostrification takes at least 4 months.
Since 2012, diplomas of leading universities and higher schools in 25 countries of the world are recognized automatically in Russia. Such an order was adopted by the Government of the Russian Federation on 21.05.2012 in Moscow (Order No. 811-r). In the list of selected universities there were 210 educational institutions of the world.
Partial abolition of nostrification in Russia was introduced with the aim of attracting foreign specialists to the domestic labor market. The Russian economy needs skilled personnel. Simplification of the procedure of nostrification will open a market for foreign specialists to the application of knowledge and skills received in universities.
It should be noted that while the procedure for the recognition of diplomas without expertise is private. European, Asian countries are in no hurry to simplify the nostrification for Russian specialists. Automatically recognized in the world are diplomas of only a few universities of the Russian Federation. These include the Higher School of Economics, St. Petersburg State University, MGIMO. In these universities graduates receive a diploma of the state and an international application.
