Description : Extended Program in Carlsbad International School

The program provides receiving of deep knowledge in 6 disciplines:

• English;
• Experimental sciences;
• Art;
• Mathematics;
• Humanities;
• Foreign languages.

The IB course is divided into thematic stages. Annually students are offered to the cornerstone theme, which placies emphasis on all classes. In the 9th grade, the priority is the methodology of science. In 10 - the law, freedom, democracy. In 11th grade subjects of all courses are experiments, observations, ideas, the history of science is also considered. In the 12th grade, the emphasis is on argumentation and a critical approach to any information.

Pre-IB preparatory program is aimed at children aged 14-16 who wish to enroll in an international baccalaureate course in the upper grades.

The program lasts 1-2 years, depending on how much the student needs to tighten the language and academic skills in English.

The main areas of study are:

• English language + English literature;
• Language integration and confidence in the use of language in everyday life;
• Humanitarian subjects: history, geography, business, economics, religion, citizenship, the state;
• Scientific subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, geology, astronomy;
• Mathematical subjects: algebra, geometry, statistics, probability theory;
• Fine arts.

In addition to the main programs at Carlsbad International School, an elective course is offered, targeting students with specific interests and hobbies. Its directions are:

• Computer technologies and development (production of films in Final Cut Pro, digital photography, game design, 3D graphics, programming, web design);
• Health, fitness (health programs in Karlovy Vary centers and clinics);
• Photography, art (acquaintance with famous techniques, styles, formation of personal portfolios);
• Media, cinematography (study of animation, graphics, sound, editing, etc.).

In 2017, due to school repairs, the summer camp is not held.

Brief information about summer program for active children and teenagers who want to spend a vacation in the best Czech spa, to improve English, to find new friends from different countries.

Summer courses in CAMP CARLSBAD are designed for 1-5 weeks. The combined program is divided into three blocks:

• Morning;
• Afternoon;
• Evening.

The morning block includes English lessons, where students study grammar, supplement their vocabulary, practice reading and writing skills, and fluency in speech. Particular attention is paid to the production of pronunciation, literacy of oral speech. Also in the morning block students are offered classes of golf, tennis under the guidance of experienced instructors. During the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, children can take part in cultural events.

The day program block includes active rest aimed at developing physical skills and improving students. The choice of directions for adolescents is very large. In CAMP CARLSBAD you can do football, volleyball, badminton, basketball, swimming, hiking, rock climbing, cycling. Creative persons are offered courses in painting, photography, classes in a dance studio.

Evening entertainment (parties, discos, shows, competitions, etc.) in the school contribute to the development of English skills, providing for the social interaction of students. In an informal setting, adolescents practice the skills they have acquired in their English classes and consolidate their knowledge.

Twice a week there are organized excursions for students to get acquainted with the sights of the Czech Republic.

• The result of the studying: mastering spoken English, improving general language skills, overcoming the language barrier, acquiring new friends and a lot of impressions from the rest in one of the most picturesque, interesting and touristy popular cities in the Czech Republic

• Lesson duration: 45 minutes

The course price includes the curriculum and extra-curricular program, excursion support, testing for admission to the camp and at the end of the program, studying materials, meals, accommodation, direct and return transfer from Prague.
