Description
The program is designed for foreign students without sufficient level of English. Previously, this stage of education was called the preparatory course for admission to British boarding schools. In the course of preparation, a successful completion of 1 to 3 trimesters is provided, depending on the initial knowledge of the language and general school preparation. The basis of the program - group classes for the development of social and linguistic skills, teaching the principles of self-education.
Students are tested for reading, writing, listening to texts. There are measures for adaptation to life in the UK and familiarity with local traditions. Students increase the vocabulary of special vocabulary and are preparing to study a number of subjects from the professional side.
The Academic English program provides 25 hours of classroom work and 7 hours of individual lessons per week. For each schoolboy, the college assigns a personal curator who checks homework, weekly updates the subject and the intensity of the courses. Life in the boarding house stimulates the development of children's autonomy and communication skills in the English-speaking environment.
Introductory criteria
Children from 12 to 16 years of age with satisfactory progress reports and recommendations from the school in their country can apply. For Alexanders College, it is important to see a high motivation for the student to learn, a positive attitude towards learning and a focus on attending all classes. The level of English is not at all important, the initial knowledge provides for the passage of three trimesters, and excellent knowledge of English will allow you to complete an academic course in one trimester.
