The Woldingham girls' boarding school is located in a beautiful scenic valley near the small town of Croydon, the distance to London is only 25 kilometers. The school was founded in 1842 - today its territory reaches 250 hectares, on which there is everything necessary for comfortable learning, living and leisure.
Woldingham proudly bears the title of one of the best English women's schools. The academic results of the graduates are very high - annually about 12% of the students go to such prestigious universities as Oxford and Cambridge.
Girls from all over the world are 11 to 18 years old. 7-8 grade students study the same list of disciplines, gradually deepening knowledge and increasing complexity; The second half of each day is devoted to sports, creative pursuits, games and electives.
9th grade is held according to the general schedule of training: once a week, general physical education and sports are organized, and one evening is devoted to rest and games.
The next two years are devoted to a full-fledged, qualitative preparation for the GCSE exams: successful surrender will enable you to get a prestigious certificate of general secondary education. Some fundamental, basic subjects are common to all (such as English and mathematics), the other components of the curriculum are chosen independently on the basis of personal preferences and interests (there must be at least 9 disciplines in all).
Graduation class - AS-level - involves studying 5 subjects in the first year of study: one compulsory and 4 on personal choice (teachers advise to focus not only on one's own interests, but also on the requirements of the chosen institution, the needs of the future profession). In the second year - A2-level - you can continue to study 4 disciplines, you can reduce their number to three. At the end of the 12th and 13th grades, students take exams in the areas studied during the year.
At the beginning of the 13th grade (the last graduation year), girls apply to 6 selected universities: teachers and personal mentors help them.
There are 3 residences for pupils living: two of them are occupied by girls from 11 to 13 years old. They are equipped with cozy rooms for 6-12 people with partitions, and bathrooms, toilets and showers are located next to each room. Pupils of 14-15 years can count on rooms for 2-3 people, high school students (16 years and older) occupy private bedrooms.
Meals are organized according to the principle of a full board, three times a day. At the entrance to the main building every day a menu is hung out, the diet takes into account the characteristics of various religious and medical prescriptions (there are vegetarian, Muslim and Jewish dishes). In addition to basic meals, students can prepare snacks, tea or coffee in small common kitchens located on each floor of the hostel. Each residence includes cozy living rooms for relaxation with TV and board games. On the territory of Woldingham there is a store: here you can buy a school uniform, stationery and toiletries, various useful trivia.
On the campus there is a large, well-equipped library (printed, audio and video sources). The sports infrastructure, premises and studios for employment by creativity and art are developed, the design center, classes for individual lessons of English language and music. More recently, a new modern sports building has been built, including squash courts, a game and athletic hall, a spacious indoor swimming pool and more fields and squares for individual lessons and team games (for example, field hockey).
