Repton School is one of the oldest and most prestigious British schools. The year of its foundation was 1557, and initially it was intended only for boys: joint training was introduced only in 1992. The fervent supporters of the idea of collaborative learning is the director Robert Holroyd, who exemplifies the advantages of this form of education by personal example (his two daughters are currently studying at Rapton). In 2007, an educational institution was opened in the UAE, Dubai, which creates the widest opportunities for student exchange, gives children a chance to get education in two completely different parts of the world.
The school is located in the homonymous village in the central part of England, in the picturesque and quiet area of South Derbyshire. You can get to the London airport by train (2.5 hours) or by car (2 hours), the rest of the time students will not be distracted from school, they can enjoy pastoral landscapes and beautiful old architecture.
At any time, parents of schoolchildren can apply to employees and receive a report on academic performance, involvement in school life, communicate with teachers in various subjects, learn about the success of their child in extracurricular activities, creativity or sports. The school maintains an electronic score sheet, to which parents have constant free access.
One of the most striking aspirations of the educational institution is to develop the individual potential of each student, to enable him to realize his personal talents and abilities. The success of this approach is indicated by all the improving results of exams and tests, as well as sports achievements of students: graduates constantly take prizes at Wimbledon (juniors), and the fees of boys and girls become champions in the national hockey championship (also juniors).
The research departments, and, consequently, the directions of study at school are very many:
The list of subjects studied is quite extensive - it includes:
Many students choose a second foreign language - German or Spanish.
Also, all students attend art or art classes: music and vocals, creative computer applications, technology and design, general art courses, theater and drama.
The second year of study adds the following structure to the personal curriculum: compulsory disciplines (biology, English, physics, mathematics, chemistry) and 3-4 electives that each student chooses independently. At the end of the course, an exam for the GCSE certificate is taken.
The first year of study is 4 subjects that are studied deeply and thoroughly; If one of the selected disciplines is higher mathematics, then the total quantity can be increased to 5. In the second year only 3 of the selected subjects remain. A lecture course in several directions is valuable; all students can attend them as listeners without exception.
The curriculum is constantly being updated and updated to take into account all the modern needs of students, meet modern trends and the peculiarities of time.
For students on the campus, 10 comfortable residences (6 male and 4 female) are built: each is supervised by a separate tutor with his family. The mentor not only follows the order, discipline and cleanliness - he guarantees the complete safety of children, forms a home and friendly atmosphere, helps to adapt the newcomer. Residences are provided with cozy, fully furnished rooms for 2-4 people, high school students occupy separate private bedrooms.
Many students spend their free time from sports fields and fields - active leisure is extremely popular among children. Most recently, the construction of a state-of-the-art sports complex was completed (its value was more than 4 million pounds); And it was on the school grounds that the England team was training before the 2012 Summer Olympics. The team of the students took the first place in the competition of the Football Association of Private Schools (2011).
There are also interesting classes for creative, intellectually gifted students: for them a large number of circles, sections and clubs of interest. You can study at a theater or music school, attend art and creativity classes, attend a mathematical or discussion club, and engage in science.
