School Schule Birklehof is one of the most prestigious schools in the region of the three boundaries of the Black Forest. The educational institution is not far from Freiburg. The private school of Birkloff was founded in the 20th century by Kurt Khan. Today, it is actively developing.
The school mainly learns Germans. Only 10% of the seats are foreigners. Teaching is conducted in German. In a private gymnasium a great atmosphere was created for the success of schoolchildren. Living and learning children are offered in a comfortable environment.
The school honors the tradition of progressive educational reforms, conducted almost a hundred years ago. The concept was tested by practice and time. It consists in delegating part of the managerial authority to the student council of the school.
There are two educational directions in the school: secondary school, Abitur. The latter is the German alternative to the British A-Level.
You can enroll in a German prestigious gymnasium at any stage of the course. To do this, you need to own German at a level not lower than Upper Intermediate. Enrollment is based on the results of the interview and taking account of academic performance, according to the statement from the card or the certificate (for Abitur).
In high school students study a wide range of subjects. The general curriculum includes mathematics, history, art, physics, biology, chemistry. It also provides for the study of foreign languages. English is available from the 5th grade, Latin and French from the 6th. In the 9th-10th form students can additionally study Greek.

In high school (Abitur) special attention is paid to the preparation for admission to the university. Training is divided into profiles. The direction students choose in the 8th grade. In Schule Birklehof it is possible to get a practice-oriented secondary education with a natural, linguistic or musical bias. Music education of children here is given special attention.

The housing stock includes 10 comfortable buildings. Separate accommodation is offered at the school. One hostel, the Unterhaus, is designed for boys and girls 5-7 years of training. Children are accommodated on different floors.
The school offers double rooms with private facilities. Senior students are allowed single occupancy.
The food in Birklhof is organized according to the principle of full boarding. National German, European dishes are served in the school cafeteria.
Schule Birklehof offers not only secondary, high school programs, but also a large number of extracurricular activities. All conditions for sports and creative development are created here. In the summer, active hikers are offered hockey on the grass, horse riding, rugby, football, badminton, volleyball, orienteering, cycling, rock climbing, golf, rowing, tennis. In winter, students can ride snowboarding, skiing. Intellectual clubs and creative sections work year-round.
Students of the school can optionally attend classes in pottery, filmmaking, photography, handicrafts. Also for the pupils there is a vocal, theatrical circle. At school there is also an orchestra, a choir, a musical collective.
The school features modern equipment. On the campus there are educational buildings, sports facilities, housing stock. The school has spacious, modernly equipped auditoriums, an assembly hall, several creative workshops. Sports infrastructure is represented by playgrounds and fields, indoor sports center. Also in school there is a library, computer resources, wireless internet.
