ESL Program (12 weeks)

A huge number of international students are trained at the New York Academy of Motion Picture Arts, so it is an excellent option in learning English. This course allows students to improve their conversational and written skills due to the fact that all lessons and communication among classmates are in a foreign language. The ESL program is held at the Century School of Languages (CSL), a branch of the New York Academy of Motion Picture Arts. CSL is located on the territory of the Academy, thus students have a great opportunity to visually familiarize themselves with the art of the film industry, honing their English skills in a cultural atmosphere.

The goal of CSL is to maintain high educational performance through the use of effective teaching methods by our educators. An intensive English program offers its students a highly qualified education, support and supervision that will affect their progress. The Summer Camp of the New York Film Academy is located in the Financial District in New York. The summer school accepts students between the ages of 14-17. In the camp, adolescents are located in well-equipped buildings, in which there are two dance studios, laboratories, a room with equipment, a projection room, classrooms and outdoor recreation rooms. The school is located just a few blocks from Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, as well as within easy access to the heart of Soho, Tribeca, Little Italy, Chinatown, Greenwich Village and Brooklyn Bridge. Twenty-minute train journey and students are already at Columbia University, Coney Island, Central Park and Harlem. Hollywood, shooting movies and commercial commercials - in huge numbers in New York. New York is the largest center of independent film production in the world. Like many filmmakers, writers, playwrights and painters, our students find New York a city that can form an artistic vision. The city is not only the beginning of their stories, but also shapes the character of their heroes.

High school students live in the residence of John Street, located in Lower Manhattan. The residence is under protection 24/7. Students live in fully furnished rooms. In each room there is LCD-TV / DVD with cable, refrigerator, microwave, internet, air conditioning and private bathroom.

Breakfast is provided for in the camp - each student can choose what he likes more: oatmeal, milk, cereal, wafers, bread, bagels and fruit. Lunch and dinner are not included in the cost of the camp, so students themselves eat in restaurants or buy food in stores, near the school. Students will have the opportunity to walk freely and spend time outside the school grounds. Therefore, before going anywhere, students should inform their mentors about their destination, and be in touch. Students are not allowed to go out one at a time. If students want to explore the terrain, they should stay within a certain radius. All information regarding this issue will be detailed at the beginning of the program. It is required that all students have mobile phones for communication throughout the program. Suburban entertainment is compulsory for students on campus, and includes full-day trips to five counties, typical New York City attractions, as well as Broadway shows, street shows, museums and amusement parks. These visits are planned by the teachers of the New York Film Academy.

In case of urgent medical assistance, the student is immediately hospitalized in the nearest hospital.

Please note: Parents who allow their children to leave the campus (without supervision) are required to provide written permission for this decision to the Film Academy. In the event that such permission is available, excursions without supervision may be restricted (as determined by NYFA management).

The cost of the program does not include:

  • Meals (lunch and dinner)
  • accommodation
  • transport
  • Personal expenditure
