The oldest school of hotel management in the world - École hôtelière de Lausanne (School of Hotel Management in Lausanne) - was founded in 1893 and since then has not lost its first positions in national and world rankings. Today, 2,000 students study at the Lausanne campus, and the total number of graduates has exceeded 30 thousand people - they are building a successful career in the best world companies and organizations, becoming top-managers and businessmen of the highest class in demand.
The opening of the school was caused by a surge of interest in tourism in Switzerland and Europe at the beginning of the XIX century and the growing need for qualified personnel in this field. One of the members of the prestigious association Swiss Hotel Association, Jacques Tschumi, founded the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, where for the first time they began to train professionals in these areas, without intermediate qualifications and unnecessary subjects. Today the school carefully preserves historical traditions and simultaneously builds training on innovative techniques and cutting-edge equipment, sensitively catching all world tendencies and becoming the legislator of new trends and trends. The main training areas of the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne are: restaurant industry and hotel business, hospitality industry, Luxe service, consulting, marketing and management, banking and real estate management. Since 2001, the EHL course offers the EMBA (Executive Master of Hospitality Management) program MBA: the course has already been separately recognized by the Swiss Center for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (AAQ) as fully meeting the highest standards of quality.
The main campus of the school, its flagship is located 8 kilometers from the center of Lausanne, a developed and at the same time cozy Swiss city. Here are represented more than 130 nationalities and states, harmoniously combined with each other and constantly exchanging experience and knowledge. The institution also works with affiliates and partner educational institutions in Brazil, India, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Hong Kong, Mexico, Lebanon, China, South Korea. The school actively and fruitfully cooperates with the University of Applied Science and Arts of Western Switzerland (HES-SO): this is the only such example of cooperation throughout the country. Since November 2015, the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne also includes the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) in Paschus (Switzerland).
